(SPRING 2021) Onward And Upwards Into Countless Battles | Vance Cunningham

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

Onward and upwards into countless battles

My friends, forwards and just beyond the veil

When dreams overcome to take us to sleep

The night will never be fair

Sleep of the just leaves us loose ends

That Moore can just not perceive

And although it is here that we must begin

We have already taken our leave

Onward and upwards into countless battles

Is just a passing phase

One might say "unto the breach dear friends"

If Shakespeare had garnered their praise

But all the Wills and wont’s of this world

Have wistfully wandered away

It seems, I think, a memory

Of times not gone but frayed

When four times repeated a fifth may intrude

Unless we accept the effect

That the cause is true blue flew who knew

That the words always rhyme in The End
