Jeopardy came on last night, 7:30 pm.
It seems a tradition to curl up in a chair and watch as Trebek masterfully hosts the show, after 36 years one does get good at something with enough practice.
Last night was different though, for it was not Alex helming the ship but Ken Jennings, a worthy successor but not Trebek all the same.
And that is what brought tears to my eyes for the first time in months, the thought that Trebek, who had been a staple in the roof above my head was no longer present on this earth.
Celebrities’ deaths don’t often get to me but Alex did, he was so much more than a game show host, he could be counted on to show up night after night, his stage presence practiced and perfect.
The only episode he didn’t host, an April Fools joke in 1997, until now.
And from now on, that is the way it will be.
So long, Alex Trebek.
Dear Rebecca,
I couldn't have said it any better!
So long Alex Trebeck.
