(SPRING 2021) Your Birthday | Rowan Wasserman

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

Passing each other in the street with averted eyes,

How far we've come.

From the inseparable to the indifferent.

We still hold onto those memories, though.

Those random details and facts of each other's lives. First crushes and first kisses.

Those others I see in the hall, their histories intertwined with yours, Not that it should matter to me anymore.

They'll all still ask me about you.

Relating us as we used to be.

A constant reminder of what we lost,

And a heartbreaking memory that sealed our fate.

Though we don't celebrate together anymore,

I'll always remember your birthday

And I'll hope it's a good one.
